As previous mentioned, unscheduled TAFs have additional coding added to the WMO Header line and to the first line of text in a TAF to indicate if the product is an amended, delayed or a corrected issuance.
Examples:
Indicator | Unscheduled TAF | Example |
AAx | Amended | FTUS42 KMFL 140500 AAA TAF AMD KFLL 140947Z 1410/1506... |
RRx | Delayed | FTUS42 KLOX 231100 RRA TAF KLAX 231409Z 2314/2412... |
CCx | Corrected | FTUS42 KLOX 231000 CCA TAF COR KLAX 231151Z 2312/2412... |
The "x" in the indicator is a letter "A" through "X", indicating sequential use of the indicator. For example, the first correction to a scheduled forecast would be "CCA", the second correction to the same forecast would be "CCB", and so forth. If that same forecast needed to be amended, the amendment indicator would be "AAA".
On the first line of the TAF, the contraction "AMD" is added to indicate an amended TAF and "COR" is added to indicate the TAF has been corrected. There is no contraction added to the line for a Delayed TAF.
The issuance times and the TAF valid date/times will be discussed in detail in the subsequent lesson pages.
