Weather-Ready Nation is about building community resilience in the face of increasing vulnerability to extreme weather. To achieve this goal, it is imperative that the NWS expand its capacity to provide superior impact-based decision support services (IDSS) in all phases of the disaster life cycle. This Professional Development Series (PDS) focuses on identifying professional competencies needed to perform IDSS, along with an inventory of instructional components available to build those skill sets.

Task Book
The Deployment-Ready Task Book has been developed for employees to complete prior to being able to deploy to work with partners. The task book is to be completed along with PCU 7. The task book lists performance requirements in a format that allows a trainee to be evaluated against written guidelines. Successful performance of all tasks is required for recommendation to the agency that the trainee has earned certification to perform proficiently in a deployment. In addition, completion of the task book must be observed and recorded by a certified evaluator and signed off on by a supervisor.
