Suggested Activities for IDPs
The Individual Development Plan (IDP) provides a means for NWS employees to identify short- and long-term career goals as well as training and professional development experiences needed to achieve those goals. Visit NWS Instruction 20-105 in the NWS Directive System for more information.
The IDP is an employee’s personal action plan, developed by the employee and coordinated with the supervisor, uniquely tailored to the needs of both the employee and the organization.
Discuss the contents of your IDPs with your first-line supervisor and other interested parties (e.g., mentor) at least once a year to ensure the IDP reflects organizational as well as individual goals.
