2.2 Interactive Forecast Display

CHPS Interactive Forecast Display (IFD)The Interactive Forecast Display (IFD), also called the CHPS Explorer display, is the interface used by forecasters to run tasks and workflows on the Operator Client.

The IFD includes many elements.

The main elements are highlighted in the image at right.

Elements visible by default when the system is started include current time, time of last refresh, status of the system, mouse coordinates, user name, and log message search panel.

Purpose of IFD

The IFD is a “first look” for forecasters to:

  • compare forecast and observed data,
  • create modifications to the data (as needed), and
  • run and approve the forecast.

All of these are accomplished by clicking various tabs along the bottom and sides of the window.
