NOAA SWPC, an example of a space weather center
The NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC) is the United States' official civilian source for space weather alerts, watches, and warnings.
SWPC’s mission is to provide space weather products and services to meet the evolving needs of users in the United States and internationally.
This organization is a member of:
- the U.S. National Space Weather Program (NSWP) , which is a partnership between academia, industry, and other government agencies.
- the WMO Inter-Programme Coordination Team on Space Weather .
- the International Space Environment Service (ISES)
SWPC operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and is located in Boulder, Colorado.
SWPC serves a large customer base that covers a broad spectrum of users from the private sector to other government agencies. SWPC also explores and evaluates new models and products and transitions them into operations.
