Think for a moment...
"What would prompt the everyday citizen to investigate space weather?"
Instructions: Click here to reveal some reasons.
Think about it: What types of questions would callers have if there was a regular Sun Forecast on the nightly news?
Their questions will typically be quite basic. You should be able to answer many of these basic level questions and reassure citizens.
Again, this course will provide you more information about the types of space weather impacts every-day citizens may be concerned about, the types of questions you may be required to address, methods to address these concerns, and tools to assist you with this task.
NOTE: Major airlines, GPS companies, or other large organizations that are dependent on Space Weather will most likely already be informed of or even in contact with the Space Weather Prediction Center. These organizations will be very familiar with the models and data that are available at http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/.
You might see a spike in interest after a local or national news article discussing space weather occurs, when space weather appears as a topic during a political discussion, or when a science program releases a new series which includes space weather.
For example, some people might have had some interest after this comedic clip about Space Weather was released on the Daily Show (Note: Viewing this clip is optional and the source code is external to the NWS).
