The Decibel
In a situation where you multiply standard numbers, you add numbers expressed in dB's.
As an example:
A gain of 10 followed by a gain of 100,
provides a total gain of
10 x 100 = 1000
A moment ago we saw that a gain of 10 is 10dB and a gain of 100 is 20dB.
10dB + 20dB = 30dB
Isn't 30bD a gain of 1000 !? Indeed.
