Soil moisture models
     --- Manual or automatic fitting?

An important first step in hydrologic analysis is understanding the various components of runoff.
The main components of runoff are:
Surface runoff
Water which travels over the ground surface to a channel.
Interflow
Water which infiltrates the upper soil layer and moves laterally to the stream channel.
Baseflow
Water which percolates downward to the water table and may eventually intersect a stream channel.
Direct runoff
Consists of surface runoff and a portion of the interflow.
