Summary
The typical IFP run is a series of steps as outlined below:
- Select a forecast group
- Set the dates for the NWSRFS run
- Choose the set of forecast points to run
- For each forecast point:
Look at model results
Make necessary modifications
Rerun the NWSRFS hydrology
Repeat these steps until the forecaster is satisfied with the results graphically displayed
- Run the next forecast point
A hydrologist will normally make an IFP run from the headwaters downstream.
That way a forecast at the outlet of a river system has the best hydrology for all points upstream.
