Interactive Calibration Program (ICP)

Calibration strategy when using the ICP:

• Adjust time scale depending on parameter being examined
• Remove large errors in parameter values
• Return to previous steps to recheck
• Utilize primary statistics:
      annual bias
      seasonal bias
      flow interval bias
• Remain flexible

Strategy for basin calibration:

• Determine spatial variability (elevation, soils, etcetera)
• Model calibration order:
      headwaters with best available data
      other headwaters with minimal complications
      local areas
      remaining areas
• After first headwater is calibrated, change only subsequent parameters that need to be changed

Data issues for consideration:

• Different raingauge issues
• Different sensor issues
• Utilizing forecast data (i.e. QPF, temperature forecasts)
• Changes in temporal resolutions
