Manual adjustments
Manual adjustments to parameters are made until simulated response agrees satisfactorily with observed values.
Comparisons of simulated and observed response can be obtained from a number of display and statistical techniques that are provided.
The Manual Calibration Program is used to develop parameters needed by NWSRFS models and techniques through the simulation of periods of historical records.
The Manual Calibration Program is based on the Operations Table and is compatible with the following other parts of NWSRFS:
- The Forecast Component of the Operational Forecast System (OFS)
- The Automatic Parameter Optimization Program (OPT3)
- The Ensemble Streamflow Prediction (ESP) function
The calibration programs execute a single segment for a relatively long period of record, usually in terms of years.
The operational programs execute many segments for periods in terms of days or, at most, weeks.
The calibration program simulates a long period of record by executing the Operations Table one month at a time.
