The Players

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is responsible for using science and service to help manage the resources of the United States.

The National Weather Service (NWS) supports the hydrologic portion of this mission by providing river and flood forecasts and warnings for protection of life and property, and by providing basic hydrologic forecast information for environmental and economic well-being.

The Hydrologic Services Division (HSD) and the Office of Hydrologic Development (OHD) support the NOAA and NWS missions through the design, development, testing, and implementation of a physically-based hydrologic forecasting system  -  the National Weather Service River Forecast System (NWSRFS).
