QC Shift Duties at ILX


Ongoing: QC special ROSA observation received.

Hourly: Check NOAA Weather Radio scripts and AFOS macros for missing or erroneous ASOS observations.

Midnights

0600 UTC: Review shift log for ongoing QC problems.
0600 UTC: Use ProComm Plus to obtain CR-10 river stages. Check data before transmitting to AFOS.
0645 UTC: Use the river comparison program to check river stage and precipitation information at DCP and CR-10 sites.
1130 UTC: Begin receiving cooperative observer telephone reports. Check the report for representativeness before transmitting to AFOS (must be transmitted by 1400 UTC).
1200 UTC: Use ProComm Plus to obtain CR-10 river stages. Check data before
transmitting to AFOS.
1245 UTC: Use the river comparison program to check river stage and precipitation information at DCP and CR-10 sites.
1345 UTC: Check and correct any problems noticed on the summary of ROSA observations alarmed on AFOS.
1350 UTC: Transmit 6-hourly pool and tailwater stages from Illinois River lock and dams for the past 24 hours (available on the internet).

Days

1400 UTC: Review shift log for ongoing QC problems.
1530 UTC: Check the Area Precipitation and Temperature Table alarmed on AFOS for any representativeness problems.
1545 UTC: Brief any ongoing problems to the staff during morning map discussion.
1800 UTC: Use ProComm Plus to obtain CR-10 river stages. Check data before
transmitting to AFOS.
1845 UTC: Use the river comparison program to check river stage and precipitation information at DCP and CR-10 sites.

Evenings

2200 UTC: Review shift log for ongoing QC problems.
0000 UTC: Use ProComm Plus to obtain CR-10 river stages. Check data before transmitting to AFOS.
0045 UTC: Use the river comparison program to check river stage and precipitation information at DCP and CR-10 sites.
0230 UTC: Check the Area Precipitation and Temperature Table alarmed on AFOS for any representativeness problems.
