COMET has published Satellite Products for Evaluating Convective Maintenance. This lesson provides best practices for using GOES-R/16/17 and JPSS satellite products to aid in the forecast process for convective maintenance. The lesson uses a convective case study, and in addition to conventional satellite imagery at high temporal resolution, the forecaster will use Flash Extent Density (FED) and Minimum Flash Area (MFA) imagery from the Geostationary Lightning Mapper (GLM) and the CIMSS/NOAA ProbSevere product to aid in their forecasts. COMET has published Aviation Focal Point: A Day in the Life. Through interactive scenarios, learners will connect Categorical Amendment Criteria to the monitoring elements of AvnFPS software. Throughout the lesson they will make decisions about how best to communicate with partners regarding decision support issues, and will practice mentoring team members who encounter aviation-related performance issues. COMET has published National Water Model Services: Training Videos. These videos, and accompanying 1-page fact sheets, cover five services as well as the quantities "bankfull" and "annual exceedance probability" as used by the model. Experts from NOAA's National Water Center and from WFOs help the learner see how these services can be used in operational forecasting and decision support services.
