NOAA Space Weather Products & Services Course Summary
This course has been designed to assist organizations around the world in providing space weather services to their local customers. It is intended to give a background understanding of space weather, and to introduce a set of real-time space weather products that are available through the World Meteorological Organization Space Weather Portal.
From this course, you should have an understanding of the main space weather products in use today and an understanding of the network of service providers around the world. You should have a basic understanding of space weather, solar activity, and the benefits of space weather services. And you should have a familiarity with a number of space weather services that are available to you, and a familiarity with the kinds of interactions you may encounter as you provide space weather services.
Because we are not able to sense space weather directly (except when viewing the aurora), these concepts can be difficult to understand and to communicate to others. Nonetheless, as we become more reliant on technologies impacted by space weather, it is increasingly important to develop services to support the industries and the government activities that are impacted. This course is an introduction to the concepts and to the available tools to assist you as you develop your space weather service capability.
