Service Providers Around the World
All regions around the world can be impacted by space weather. All regions can contribute to space weather, by collecting and sharing data. Regions can also contribute by sharing expertise and by providing information to serve the needs of local customers.
Consequently, space weather services are provided by a network of worldwide centers.
This global partnership is necessary for obtaining the space-based and ground-based real-time data needed to assess the space environment and create and communicate space weather products and services.
The required data describes both the planetary-scale disturbances as well as the localized disturbances.
- Planetary-scale disturbances are driven by massive releases of energy from the Sun.
- Localized disturbances are disturbances that impact specific regions, such as ionospheric disturbances in equatorial South America or magnetic disturbances in Scandinavia.
