Each hydrologic product has specific requirements, depending on the situation.
Your office is responsible for understanding the national and regional requirements and formats associated with hydrologic products. Follow these requirements to ensure consistent service to the public.

These directives contain critical information on issuing the correct products, using the correct identifier, and in the correct format. Defer to regional supplemental directives, which override the national directive.

Other verification activities include:
- Maintain detailed records of reports of flooding, flood crests, and photos indicating or validating flood impacts, etc.
- Enter the official USGS flood crests (issued several months after an event) and records from other gage owners in HydroBase
- Share local records of flood crests with the RFC for forecast verification and assess model performance
